Paus merupakan salah satu hewan terbesar di dunia. Rekor paus terbesar dimiliki oleh spesies paus biru yang memiliki panjang 30 meter dengan berat sekitar 190 ton. Bayi paus biru yang baru lahir saja memiliki berat sekitar 2 ton dengan panjang 1-2 meter.

Paus sirip adalah paus perenang tercepat. Mereka mampu berenang dengan kecepatan hingga 30 km per jam. Selain itu, suara paus biru sangat hebat, suaranya mampu terdengar hingga ratusan kilometer jauhnya di bawah air.

Seekor Paus mampu bertahan 5 hingga 15 menit di bawah air. Kemudian mereka akan kembali ke permukaan untuk mengambil nafas.

Walaupun banyak paus yang ukurannya raksasa, ternyata ada pula paus yang ukurannya relatif kecil yaitu paus pantai yang ukurannya maksimalnya hanya 5 meter.
